For over 20 years, Bank of America has supported a wide range of Conservancy projects. Bank of America and its branches have contributed over $18 million to help fund the Conservancy conservation efforts at sites throughout the United States and around the world.

As part of their generous support, The Bank of America Charitable Foundation and The Nature Conservancy are partnering to fund $2 million in conservation projects that will protect forests in Brazil, China and Indonesia. In collaboration with governments and local communities, the Conservancy and Bank of America will work together to find economically viable and environmentally sustainable solutions for ecosystems in the countries where they matter most. We will:

• Advance the global movement to preserve forests, linking conservation to the overall health of our planet while demonstrating that conservation and business interests can go hand-in-hand when supported by innovative science, policy and business mechanisms;
• Strengthen and expand the Conservancy’s forest carbon programs, which range from Brazil to California to China and are collective helping to restore millions of acres of forestland; and
• Help launch an innovative initiative that will bolster China’s nature reserve infrastructure in Sichuan Province through the Land Trust Reserve, a new model of protected area that will sustain vital forests.

This important work advances Bank of America’s $20 billion commitment to the environment and reflects our shared belief that we do not have to lose the world’s remarkable forests and all that they provide — that we can responsibly manage natural resources to benefit nature and people.

In addition, Bank of America has donated over $1.5 Million to Forest Protection in Maine, $500,000 for Alternative Energy Projects in China and $500,000 for the Nature Conservancy’s Global Forest Initiative. In addition, Bank of America has been a member of the Conservancy’s International Leadership Council for over 10 years, seeking solutions to conservation challenges through corporate cooperation.

In 2006, Bank of America announced it would contribute $1 per customer to support The Nature Conservancy’s forest conservation work for every Bank of America customer who chose online statements instead of paper statements. At the same time, Bank of America has made supporting The Nature Conservancy easier than ever with The Nature Conservancy credit and deposits accounts. When you make purchases with your credit or debit card, Bank of America makes a contribution to The Nature Conservancy. With the credit card, 10 trees are planted when the card is activated and an additional tree is planted each month the card is used through the Conservancy’s Plant a Billion Trees Campaign.
