One of the best places on the East Coast to observe migrating songbirds, several species of raptors, pelagic birds and miscellaneous waterfowl. The island also provides spectacular scenery, great sunsets, fine dining, historic architecture and beautiful beaches.

Open to the public. Facilities available: hotels and bed-and-breakfast inns.

When: Last Week in March
Federally threatened piping plovers return from their wintering grounds.

Open to the public. Nesting sites are fenced off.
