Where: Fourth Connecticut Lake Preserve
When: May and June
View moose with calves along U.S. Route 3 for 20 miles ending at the U.S./Canada border. Hike along the U.S./Canada border to the Conservancy's Fourth Connecticut Lake Preserve (1.5 miles). Ample wildlife-viewing opportunities along the trail.

Open to the public.

Peaking at the beginning of summer, after sundown, the whippoorwill sings, filling New Hampshire's last intact pine barrens ecosystem with its loud, clear and mellow song.

Open to the public.

Where: Mascot Mine, Mascot Pond in Gorham
When: September through October
In preparation for winter hibernation, four species of bats swarm the entrance to this long-abandoned silver and lead mine.

Open to the public (mine shaft is gated).
