Spring migration and nesting along the Great Plains Flyway. More than 300 species of birds migrate through or nest in this area, including sandhill cranes (approximately 500,000), ducks, geese, greater prairie chickens, sharp-tailed grouse, whooping cranes, northern pintails, mallards and blue-winged teals.
