The yellow blooms of this extremely rare shrub can be seen from March to April within the sand ponds adjoining the floodplain forests of this preserve.
Wood warblers, thrushes, tanagers and other birds can be found in migration. Some species nest locally while others are in passage to more northerly breeding areas.
Catch a glimpse of this brilliant yellow warbler, a neotropical migrant that breeds in swamps and lowland forests of the eastern U.S. The birds leave in late July for their wintering grounds in Central and South America.
