Zambezi River: Charting a Course for the ‘River of Life’

The Zambezi River is home to an amazing collection of iconic African wildlife: hippos, Cape buffalo, elephants and more. It also provides sustenance to some 40 million residents and delivers electricity to homes as far away as South Africa.

But with a human population on track to double by 2025 in the Zambezi basin, the Zambezi River needs creative conservation solutions. The Nature Conservancy is collaborating with local partners to restore some of the Zambezi’s natural flows while providing benefits to both people and wildlife.
