Atlantic Forest of South America: Planting One Billion Trees

The Atlantic Forest — encompassing eastern Brazil, northern Argentina and eastern Paraguayis one of the most diverse and threatened forests left on our planet and provides water for 70 percent of Brazil's population.

But the forest has been reduced to only 7 percent of its original size, much in isolated fragments.

By 2015, the Conservancy and partners will spur the planting of 1 billion native trees, reforesting 2.5 million acres and creating enormous forest corridors to preserve, connect and buffer new and existing public protected areas.
