Thomas Esang Remengesau, Jr. (born February 28, 1956 in Koror, Palau) is the president of Palau, he took office on January 1, 2001. In 2005, President Remengesau committed his nation to preserving an astounding 30 percent of their near-shore marine resources and 20 percent of their terrestrial resources by 2020.
