The Nature Conservancy believes that the private sector must take a leadership role in conservation by changing the way business is done — incorporating the value of nature into business decisions and processes. To achieve our mission, the Conservancy is working with companies to:
Transform Business Practices — The Conservancy seeks to leverage our global presence, field strength and our science and conservation planning expertise to influence business practices in select industries whose activities can have a significant impact on the natural systems we seek to conserve. We undertake specific projects and develop tools to demonstrate the tangible business returns of incorporating sustainability and the value of nature into a company’s operations and supply chains. Examples include: Cargill, The Dow Chemical Company.
Invest in Nature — The Conservancy accepts contributions from companies that support conservation at a local, state, national or international level. The Conservancy directs this giving to conservation projects and scientific research that will support large-scale conservation outcomes. Examples include: 3M, JPMorgan Chase & Co.
Raise Awareness for Conservation — The Conservancy works with companies to develop campaigns and outreach strategies aimed at broadening the base of support for conservation and reaching new and more diverse audiences with messages about the connection between people and nature. Examples include: Harley Davidson, Neutrogena, PepsiCo Recycling, Macy’s.
