CSX Transportation Brings Classroom Learning to the Outdoors

CSX Transportation is a proud supporter of The Nature Conservancy’s Nature Works Everywhere program. In the 2012 – 2013 school year, thanks to the support of CSX, The Nature Conservancy worked with a local DC non-profit to partner with local school teachers and children and all grade levels to implement a garden based curriculum, and build pollinator gardens on school grounds, through our Nature Works Everywhere program. This led to active engagement of children and teachers in improving our environment through education and hands on activities. In the 2013-2014 school year, CSX provided additional support to expand the Nature Works Everywhere garden program  through an active grants program for schools in Baltimore, MD and Atlanta, GA, as well as build out additional digital resources. In 2014-2015, CSX will continue their engagement with our educational program by providing the support to enable us to offer grants to schools in Philadelphia, PA and New York City, as well as engaging in our national volunteer program through an event in Atlanta, GA in Fall 2014.

About CSX: CSX Corporation, together with its subsidiaries based in Jacksonville, Fla., is one of the nation's leading transportation suppliers. The company’s rail and intermodal businesses provide rail-based transportation services including traditional rail service and the transport of intermodal containers and trailers.

Overall, the CSX Transportation network encompasses about 21,000 route miles of track in 23 states, the District of Columbia and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. Our transportation network serves some of the largest population centers in the nation. Nearly two-thirds of Americans live within CSX’s service territory.
