From its launch in 2010 through 2011, the Avon Hello Green Tomorrow Project generated more than $2.7 million for Plant a Billion Trees focused on the restoration of the Atlantic Forest in Brazil as part of the company’s mission to help end deforestation. Launched with an initial $1 million contribution from Avon Products, Inc., the first two years of the program raised over $1.7 million in more than 50 countries around the world. Avon’s global sales force continues to be mobilized to sell Hello Green Tomorrow fundraising products, and in 2012 these include an aluminum water bottle in the U.S., and the “Eco Hero” Bracelet and other products in Europe, Latin American, South Africa and Asia.
In the US, the Hello Green Tomorrow water bottle is available through Avon’s woman-to-woman network of Avon Sales Representatives and online at avon.com. The 32 ounce bottle is made from recyclable aluminum, and 50% of the net proceeds will benefit The Nature Conservancy (in Brazil, 100% of net proceeds benefit the Conservancy). Avon has committed to a minimum contribution of $250,000 a year to Plant a Billion Trees from the sale of the bottle and other items.
