The Byrd property is +/- 124 acres in size and is located in the well protected, scenic and rural Mattaponi River watershed. The property is accessed via a right-of-way easement from a state-maintained road and contains a healthy stand of pine and hardwoods. Abundant wildlife and timber investment opportunity.


Primary Conservation Objectives

The Nature Conservancy has protected more than 28,000 acres in the Mattaponi River and adjoining Dragon Run watersheds with a focus on water quality protection and the health of the Bald cypress swamps in Dragon Run. TNC has purchased land and holds easements that protect and maintain high integrity riparian buffers and intact forest interior habitat.

Easements and Restrictions

Permitted uses: One home site, timber management and recreational uses. Prohibited uses: Commercial agricultural and other commercial uses. Other: Vegetated riparian buffers required.
